Loopy for Hoops

I’m a little partial to a piercing, with more than my fair share in both ears and all in different places. But despite the number of silver studs my cartilage is home to, my all time favourite style of earring, since the day my Dad gave me the relectant go ahead to have holes in my ears, is the hoop.

I sometimes think the hoop gets a bad rep.  I recently watched an episode of KUWTK (Keeping Up With The Kardashians – sorry guilty pleasure), when Khloe was talking to Kris about the sizes of the hoops they we’re both wearing, commenting ‘The bigger the hoop the bigger the hoe’!  Charming I’m sure, but choose wisely and they are a great addition to your jewellery box.

Have a look at how the celebs and fashionistas are loopy for hoops.

I personally always go for a BIG silver hoop, but we’re off to a wedding this weekend and I’m pushing my jewellery boundary’s, splashing out on a pair of pompom hoops!  They’re not the real Pomme Pomme London  hoops, I was worried they might be a little expensive if I’m not massively keen, so I tracked down some great ‘versions of’ on Etsy  and now I’m eagerly anticipating their arrival.  Of course I’ll post pics on Instagram once I get my grubby little paws on them….eeek!

So, if you’re looking for a piece of jewellery that will take you from beach holiday to Christmas party and every other day of the year, you’d be hard pressed to find anything better than the humble hoop.

Bohemian Babe

Just another manic Monday, actually it’s not and I’m quite liking it.  Apart from the fact I ended up puking all day Easter Sunday, which probably saved me thousands of calories from all the chocolate I planned on scoffing, the bank holiday weekend has been lovely, as have the two weeks of half term actually and I’m a little bit dreading the school run tomorrow.

Any who, you can see from the title we’re going all ‘boho babe’ today, influenced of course by the fact we’ve just been bombarded with Coachella spam (no I’m not hating – who am I kidding) and that I’m off on hols very shortly to my fav place in the world – the White Isle.

My style is fairly clean on a day to day basis, but come summer time I LOVE to release my mind and body into all things boho.  I love the carefree look and feel you get with bohemian styling and now more than ever it’s easy to take this from the beach to the bar, or if you’re not poolside, from day to night and every occasion in-between.  See how the street stylers and insta-fashionistas do it below.

Most of us probably have a kaftan lurking in our holiday wardrobe and that’s probably where it’s gets the most use, but you can see above how the style set are making the most of their kaftans and incorporating them into their everyday wardrobe.  Not only that, but they are teaming over the easiest outfit on earth, jeans and a plain tee….et volia, boho chic at it’s finest, taking you from beach to the beat of the streets.

As with any trend there is no need to go top to toe.  This season there are hundreds (and I mean hundreds) of peasant, boho style blouses, from high street to high end.  One in particular that has caught everyone’s eye is this awesome offering from Next  Available in red and blue it screams boho and is reminiscent of the Vita Kin blouse but without the £1000 (yes you are reading that correctly) price tag.

So whether this is a trend you do year after year or something you’ve been longing to try, this season is one of the best for beautiful boho vibes.  Here’s the my best of the rest from our fabulous high street and cyber space…..Peace out peeps.

All Tied Up

So pay day has been and gone, did you go and have a spend up?  Now is actually quite a good time to do a bit of shopping as there are loads of mid-season sales on, and that doesn’t mean you can’t pick up some big bargains with bags of style.

For some time now the fash pack have been getting all tied up with knot details and you may have already spotted some tie front waist details on tops and dresses, originally I wasn’t hugely keen, but the more the high street has got a grip of this trend the more it’s drawn me in.  It’s now not so much about looking like you have a jumper tied around your waist (as flattering or cool as that can actually be) it’s about all the other ways to get tied up in this trend.  Take a peak at some street style inspo below.

With street style pics more than likely showcasing the most obvious way of wearing a trend, remember that the point of ‘inspo’ is of course to take inspiration.  Try not to look at something and think that wouldn’t work for me because…. Instead look for elements that you can pick out and carefully introduce into your everyday wardrobe.

Many of us worry about adding bulk to our frames with extra detailing or fabrics, but this is honestly a great way to help not hinder.  Worn in the right places these knot and tie details can give you a waist if you don’t have one, or enhance that hour-glass shape further.  If it’s just too much for you on clothing there are some unreal footwear and accessory options that have this look all tied up.

Hopefully my super high street selection will show you there are a variety of ways to wear and knot (geddit) have you in a tizz over this trend.

Shoes speak louder than Words

I’m a little bit partial to a lot of faux fur, feathers and other fluffy stuff and if the weather

didn’t dictate what footwear we had to wear I would live in sliders – every day!  For me, they are most comfortable (and not bad looking) bit of rubber you could slide on your tootsies, but when I first laid eyes on my favourite footwear covered in my favourite materials I wasn’t convinced.

Last year we started to see the first furry slidders appear, I have a friend Tanyel from Essex Beauty Patrol who makes them and has been for ages, check her out, but I also found them on the shelves in River Island and of course Rhianna produced a collection with Puma, which you’ll struggle to find anywhere but Ebay now.

Want to see how the style set are wearing their furry footwear?  Have a look below.

Like me, could you be converted or is it a fashion step too far? I mean there is a lot to love, but a lot to question marks too and you know this is one look the boys will absolutely hate!

Wherever the catwalks and celebs go our humble high street soon follows, so as you’d expect there is now a huge selection currently available at all your favourite high street stores, of which I’ve scoured and brought you the best.  BTW the pink Topshop ones below scream Givenchy if you like you high street with a healthy does of high end style.

Woven Wonders

Happy Monday peeps and it most definitely is a happy one because the sun has been shining – long may it last!

The sunshine links nicely to today’s post because there is a high chance that you already have one of these lovely items hiding in your wardrobe, maybe packed away with your holiday outfits, yep it’s the woven bag.

I do love a new bag and if there is one to buy this season it most definitely should be one of these babies.  No longer kept to that once a year beach holiday, these woven wonders have become a regular fixture on the arm of many a fashionista and it’smeasy to see why.  The big beach baskets are just that, big, with loads of room for your everyday essentials and more! Alongside the beach basket is of course the raffia clutch, I blogged about these last year and they are not going anywhere. To finish off this little trio of lovelies is the most recent addition, the wicker bag, which is having a moment and probably the most fashionable way to do your arm candy right now…..take a peak below.

Shapes, styles and sizes for everyone’s taste and usability.  The only thing I would say is if you are going for a wicker style the contents of your bag is fairly visible, so you may want to consider what you’re stuffing your bag with.

You can really let your personality shine through with these bags, you can personalise them with initials or phrases, pimp them with pom poms or just keep it plain and simple to compliment an outfit that’s doing all the talking.

As usual I’ve collated a lovely selection for you, including some of my personal favourites from Rae Feather  Made by Wave and Star Mela  check them out…..And don’t forget, have a good old rummage through your wardrobe first, as you may well already have one of these little beauties just waiting to see some sunlight again.

Hoop Dreams

If there is one way to keep your bag in chic, safe hands it’s definitely with a hoop style handle.  Last year fashionistas were street styling this bag to the max whether it was in mini or maxi form, on that note the mini or micro bag is a massive trend this season with many of them sporting this hoop handle.

It’s easy to see why this type of handle would be so popular with the lustable French fashion house Chloe having just a small part to play.  This bag is effortlessly cool dangling from your wrist but the handle works and looks just as good on larger bags, swinging nonchalantly from your hand…Take a peak.

The high street has cottoned on and now you can find clutches, wristlets, totes and more with this high-end looking handle.  If I was going to do this look I would go small and just carry the essentials – lip gloss, keys, phone…Who am I kidding, I’d have to take another bag with me for the kids too, but if I didn’t I would definitely be looking for something like this New Look one.  Here’s some more high street, hoop dream beauties.

Wrapping up..again

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s about to get cold again and not just cold but freeeezing!  You’ve probably heard about it on the weather forecast.  Just as we are all getting excited that it’s February, the evenings are starting to get lighter and it’s the month of lust and love, that on it’s own is enough to make you feel warm and fuzzy. the return of Jack Frost about to nip at your nose means we’ll all be wrapping up…again.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not expecting that winter wardrobes have already been packed away, but it’s been milder the last couple of weeks, the need for a heavy coat, scarf, hat and gloves hasn’t been top priority, but typically of the British weather we need to expect the unexpected.

For me the one accessory I can’t leave the house with when it’s cold is a scarf.  When you have curly hair you can’t just chuck a hat on and whip it off so easily, well you can but only if you want to look like you’ve been dragged through a bush backwards, so I’d go for a huge over-sized scarf every time.  Just look at the inspirational ways to wear below.

So many chic ways to stay warm, I’m almost wishing the temperature to drop!  Of course the cold blast we’re anticipating will be gone as soon as it arrives, but you definitely don’t want to be left out in the cold.  So, if you didn’t treat yourself to a snuggly new scarf this winter, make the most of the dwindling sales and bag a bargain in time to brave the blizzards.

Here’s a few of my favs.
